Last night and day in Paris.
 

Advise please. Arrive CDG 2nd July at 17h00. Flight home 3rd July ar 23h20.
Having spent 14 June till 18th June in Paris doing touristy things before onward journey to Provence and Italy . What area to stay for last night and day in Paris and would it be advisable to put extra luggage in lockers at CDG.

Since your flight home is so late -- you can stay anywhere you'd like with no need to be up early and out to CDG. You only have a very few days in Paris earlier in the trip so there will be many things you will have missed/skipped. Maybe pick a site(s) that you would have liked to visit if you had more time, and stay near there.

How much 'extra' luggage will you have? You don't need a ton of luggage for almost any trip. I never take more than a 21 inch roll aboard suitcase - but even if you take a 24 inch bag, it would not need to de stowed at the airport.

If you have more luggage than you want to carry on your last day, use one of the lockers at Gare du Nord (level -1 just below the Eurostar area) -- then take the RER B to the airport from Gare du Nord on the evening you are travelling.

You should be able to leave your luggage at your hotel even after checking out and retrieve it before you leave for the airport.

I guess given your arrival and departure times, I would probably just grab the luggage and go into Paris and then ask the hotel to hang onto your luggage past check out time the next day. I agree with janis to try to keep luggage small and if you plan on taking the RER back out, stay anywhere along the "B" line. Hopefully, given that it will be July, the rail strikes won't be an issue by then. Most visitors wanting to stay near the RER B probably would want to stay no further south than Denfert and no further north than Gare du Nord. I personally hate the Les Halles station and area, so probably would choose to stay near Luxembourg because the station is easy and the area is nice.

If not checked out Luxembourg Gardens do so - lovely place for a picnic or to what the iconic Guignol Puppet shows (in French) and people watching. The Sorbonne is here also.

We did something similar two years ago -- we returned to Paris via the TGV from Avignon. We were so happy to stay at the Citizen M which was a short, covered walk from the arriving/departing terminals. We had previously five days to explore Paris (for the 6th time) so since it was a rainy day, we chose not to do so for our last day. It was such a fun hotel in which to unwind, update my travel journal, read, and finally relax. So, book your room, and see how you feel when you arrive; if you wish to take the RER B into the 6th, great, but if you wish to sleep in, have a leisurely day people-watching, then do so. Everything in the hotel is controlled by computer or an iPad, and there are numerous wi-fi stations all throughout the common first floor, very much a fun hotel. But then again, we did leave in the morning and you have all day. Regardless, they'll hold your luggage should you decide to get "last licks" in Paris.

Ewanique, which hotel did you book-kind of curious since I like that area. Also, you won't be staying too far from one of our favorite cous cous places, Au P'tit Cahoua, 39 Boulevard Saint-Marcel, 75013 Paris

jpie, it's Les Jardins du Luxembourg. My friend is a smoker and we need accommodation with either a balcony or terrace.

Nice-good location!

Anyway, the RER is direct from Luxembourg to CDG. 10.30 euros for the trip.
