Last Minute Weekend Trip to Zadar

Jump to last reply

My 25 year old daughter is studying abroad in Norway and has managed to get a good flight to Zadar in a couple of weeks time. She and a friend will arrive on a Thursday night and will fly out on Sunday so they will have about 2 ½ days in Zadar.

Since this is a last minute unplanned trip, I’m hoping for some advice from the forum. My husband and I were in Croatia 2 years ago but only travelled to destinations between Dubrovnik and Trogir, so I only have limited familiarity with Zadar.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good budget hotel (or hostel) within walking distance of the old town?

Has anyone dealt with a good booking agency for apartments – as this may be an option as well.

With only 2 ½ days in Zadar, is it worth taking a day and taking an excursion to Plitvice Lakes or Krka NP?

Is there an island they can easily visit from Zadar on a day trip or possibly stay on rather than staying right in Zadar?

Is there anything else they should absolutely see in Zadar or the close area?

All suggestions greatly appreciated. This will help me to quickly do some further research for her.
