Last minute trip
My husband and I are trying to plan a last-minute trip, and would like your help! We are attending a wedding in the Bavarian Alps over the weekend of May 29, and are trying to plan a 2-week trip to Italy after that. We definitely want to go back to Venice, but want ideas for where else to go. We will be flying home out of Milan after 2 weeks. We have been to Florence, Siena, the Ligurian Coast, Lago Maggiore, and the Chianti region. What are your best ideas???

Rome and Amalfi coast area.

I would go to Rome and then Umbria. Assisi is wonderful.

Hi chic,
Another vote for the AC. You might find the Naples and ACportion of my trip report helpful. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34451044 |
If you have never been to rome you must go - its history and treasures are truly incredible.

Thank you all for your ideas, but we have ruled out Rome and the Amalfi Coast for this trip. We have decided to stay in Northern Italy. We will spend 4 nights in Venice, then take the train over to Genoa and then to the Cinque Terra. Then we will go to Tuscany. We want to stay just outside Siena, so would like a recommendation for a place to stay there. And where in the Cinque Terra do you suggest? We envision beautiful views of the Mediterranean with glasses of chilled limoncello..........

I would reverse the order and do Tuscany first. Do you plan a car for Tuscany? Where do you depart?

Bob, you read my husband's mind! Our plan now is to travel from Venice to Florence, pick up a car, and head for Tuscany. We would like to spend about 5 nights in the countryside outside Siena (where to stay?). Then we will to to the Cinque Terre (where to stay?) for 2-3 nights, and fly home from Milan. I would appreciate any other ideas you might have. Thanks for your response.
