Have a great trip, ssachida! We're going for the first time next year so would love to hear about yours when you get back.

YES! When in Rome - get yourself to L'Orso 80 - oh my GOD - the antipasto there is a whole meal for $11 per person - fabulous!!

My best tip for Italy - - pack a few 1/2 rolls of toilet paper and carry one in your backpack every day. You cannot believe how many places we stopped where the bathrooms had no paper. I was SO popular - "sparing a square" for my fellow travelers and strangers! Enjoy your trip - we just came back and I am still dreaming of Rome!

Have a great trip!
I also agree on L'Orso 80 .Only place in Rome we ate twice. The antipasto is the best bargain meal in Rome. Order nothing else. Believe me it'll be enough.

Thanks jabez and Dorgal, I will check out L'Orseo 80.

If you go to San Gimigagno, go very early to beat the tourist buses. We got there about 9am, which was ok, but an hour earlier would have been better. Then perhaps on to Volterra which is a little quieter...
