LAST MINUTE SPLIT ACCOMMODATION
 

Nearing my trip departure and of course make a last minute decision to change my itinerary! Am I playing a high gamble if I wait to arrive in Split for accommodation on 20 August AND arrive close to 10pm at the airport? Are sobe "representatives" at the Split airport?

I really don't know about "sobe representatives" being at the airport. I don't recall seeing them at airports at all. I mostly saw them at bus stations or the ports.

No car, but think I may have found some success with some places just outside of Split - approx. 25-30 km from airport and about 8/9 km from Split town. I'm presuming taxis are much of a muchness in terms of cost, like they are around the rest of the world...?

Not sure if you are aware or not but the Split airport is actually 25 KM from Split (North). Here's a link to their website for more info.

You might want to stay near Trogir (6KM) from the airport the first night since it is so much closer - and probably less costly for in cabfare.
