Last Minute Question on Lunch in Ravello

We will be staying in Positano next week and would like to go to Ravello to see the view and have a nice lunch. We won't have a car. What are the options for getting there? Any recommendations for lunch (with a view)? Are there any must-sees in Ravello?

Take a cab up from Amalfi (or a bus). Eat at Villa Maria. Go to Villa Cimbrone. Have fun.

I agree with SeaUrchin - DO NOT MISS Villa Cimbrone while you are there.

Take a ferry from Positano to Amalfi, then bus or cab it up to Ravello.

Boulder - You can find ferry and bus timetables on:

Hope this helps ...

Would definitely take boat from Positano to Amalfi, pretty scenery and fun way to travel. Highly suggest a taxi from Amalfi to Ravello. It is not a big trip. maybe 15-20 minutes. The bus however, in our experience in two times, is very very crowded.
We have enjoyed lunch at Villa Maria also, but on our last two trips there, we loved ristorante Salvatore, which has beautiful views and great food. Very near where taxi or bus will let you off. Enjoy this beautiful town.

Will the boats/ ferries be running in the first week of Oct? (from Positano to Amalfi)

Hi MS - Yes, ferries still run in October, weather permitting of course ...

This is something I can actually give you first hand experience with because my husband and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary there...for lunch actually! We typically have a really special "dinner" as we are almost always in another country celebrating our wedding anniversary in October.

We drove here but basically stumbled on one of the most spectacular places we have ever been. Talk about a view! It was so awesome we both agreed to have an anniversary lunch in stead of dinner. You overlook the village of Maiori and the food/service is awesome. I think it is a 3 star Michelen.

The weather was awesome and we were there the end of October! The view from the terrace is something we'll never forget.

If you want actual photos of the restaurant and our view, email me at [email protected] and I'll send our Italy photos to you (a week in Rome and a week in Sorrento).
