Rick Steve's "tours" were great in Venice. I won?t be without his guides again.

I guess the "horny" statue at St. Peter in Chains Church is a must? yes, it?s important and is featured in every travelogue I've ever seen on Rome but its off the beaten track and I don?t see how it will fit into your busy schedule.

Venice- While I loved the Frari Church (Titian!).. the Scuola San Roco (Tintoretto!)is awersome Read RS's description.

Remember quality is important not quantity. Whaterver you miss resolve to see it the next time.

The next day after I splurged for Vaparotto passes the buggeres went on strike.

Rule of thumb. When in Venice. stay the heck away from any restaurants with pink table cloths. Or at least know that you're about to be hosed.

Wow. You are going to be wiped!!!! My husband and I have been to Italy multiple times and my advice to you is to cut your intinerary in half or a third. What you don't want to miss in Italy is the "way of life". You need to find a piazza (Navona or Campo di Fiori etc.) and sit with a cappucino and take in the beauty of the buildings, people, etc. You can look at pictures and see all that you have scheduled, but not the joie de vivre of the Italians. Don't miss that.

Sounds great! I'll be checking email till I take off from the U.S. on 10/05.

Thanks everyone for all of your comments! I'm sure no matter what happens it will be a great trip -- sites missed or not:-)

Hi- I like you plan- I'm real detailed too! The only thing I did not notice (half paying attention to major flooding in front of my house due to Tropical storm in Fl!- sorry) was seeing the Spanish Steps area while in Rome? We were there last July and near there is the Piazza de Popola (spelling??)- their duomo there was quite literally one of the most beautiful I had seen in all of Italy. It is also where a big scene of "Angels and Demons" takes place.. people are walking in the church and piazza with the illustrated version. Wish I had thought of that! Anyway, have a GREAT time..

I was in Venice last month. Here were the prices. Many were higher than noted in Rick Steve's guide:

3 day Vaporetto pass: €25
Doge's Palace secret iteneraries: €16
San Marco area combo museum pass: €18
Frari Church: €2.50
Accademia Museum: €6.50 is correct

Nico's gelato in Zattere was super, south of Accademia.

You go as far as Burano without visiting Murano on the way back?

UHM, reedpaints posted this thread September 2004. I would suggest if anyone wants to give info etc. it would be good to start a new thread. Best regards.
