Last Minute Paris Hotel for Family of 4

Hello,
No lectures please. I am still searching for a hotel that will work for our family of 4(2a,2k<ages8y,11y)in Paris. We are leaving on our trip in a little over 2 weeks. We only need a hotel for 2-3 nights in Paris, hopefully with AC. Yes, we should have booked earlier, but life has gotten in the way. (kids school, sports, dog died,etc...very busy weeks).

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you,
Travelatte

Can't give you a specific recommendation, but I would look at a site like venere.com to see what is available (as well as posted reviews). I usually then try to book through the hotel website directly; though you might check both rates to make sure that is the better deal.

I can share your pain. When we traveled with our children, we had hard time finding rooms big enough for 4. These rooms, if any, booked up months in advance. In these cases, we went ahead and booked two rooms. Sometimes the floor had only two rooms, so we had the whole floor to ourselves. Other times, we got split up across different parts of hotels. Since we did not want young kids by themselves, my wife and I took one child each. Of course, it was not an ideal situation, but kids took a change in sleeping arrangement easily. My wife and I agreed before hand that this is how we would do it -- knowing that the hotel could tell us at the check-in time that the adjoining rooms requested suddenly became unavailable.

The aparthotels from Citadine can accomodate a family of four....and you get cooking and fridge facilities.

There are several that are well located for tourists. It is guaranteed to be clean, comfortable, a/c, and reasonably spacious for the money. I have stayed at Place d'Italie and it was a good location. Weekend street market, and also near Chinatown area (ie good cheap food and also takeout). Better than separate rooms I feel. Rouss

Have you thought about/tried priceline.com? You would need 2 rooms, but it still might work out to be cheaper IF there is any availability.

Hi travelatte,

I understand your dilemma. We also used to travel with our children when they were small and it was difficult to find a room for 4. Try the website laterooms.com. You an specify the location you would prefer in Paris and number of people in a room. This might help. Good luck and enjoy!

Several years ago we got a family/quad room at the Holiday Inn by the Place du Republic. It was roomy by European standards and right across the street from several cafes and a metro stop.

Hi travelatte

When my family went Paris we wanted a room for four with air conditioning. We got a reasonably priced room at the Holiday Inn at Place de Republic. It was nice, definitely not like the Holiday Inns in the US. It was also right across the street from a Metro station.

e-mail the credit card info if you can phone them (but are you sure you are dialing correctly - dropping the leading 0)

Some people send two emails, each with half the CC number.... I don't bother, I've emailed the number in the past. I'm not liable for fraudulent charges should any occur - the issuer will handle it. Or you could fax it...

I just stayed at the Hotel de la Porte Doree in the 12th. It was fantastic! Even with the hot days there was never any need for AC. The interior was cool at all times.

I emailed my CC info and showed up a month later. The owner had confirmed everything was set and I didn't even bother with a last minute confirmation.

Try Accorhotels.com . Novotel hotels, mostly, and some Mercure hotels, in the Accor brand will have no problem with two children under 16. Many have air conditioning - but double-check.

Hi Travelatte,
I am in the exact same boat as you now - leaving in 2 weeks for Paris; 2 adults, 2 kids (2y,3y). Wondering if you have returned from your trip and if you would recommend your hotel. Thanks.

Hi canadianfamily,
We leave tomorrow. Flying AirCanada. We are set to stay at Hotel Claude Bernard. It was recommended by kwren on another post. I emailed the hotel directly and they did have a family room available. We return on 6/25, but it sounds like that will be too late for me to post how the hotel went. It sounds fine.

Good luck and have a great trip!

We stayed (family of 4) at the Claude Bernard a few years ago and were happy. Nice staff, great location. The AC was so necessary and having an elevator was a welcome touch. There a many restaurants within a block or two of the hotel and a little convenience store across the street and to the 'right' sells frozen bottled water.

You might try Hotel La Bourdonnais. They have lovely rooms, air conditioning, and are right next to Ecole Militaire metro stop. They have rooms that would suit for a family of four and the staff is very very nice.
