Last Minute Ireland Questions

Leaving for Ireland in 2 days, with some last minute questions:

- are calling cards purchased in ireland the best way to call back to the US?

- is smoking in the pubs & restaurants very prevalent? i am a pregant woman concerned about inhaling any smoke.

Thanks!

CJ -

Yes the prepaid calling card are best. You can by them everywhere and they are accepted at most phone booths. I have an AT & T calling card and couldn't get it to work anywhere.

Pubs=smoke. Hard to find a place where there isn't smoke. (sorry) You should still check out the pubs to hear the live music!

CJ,
Calling cards for either a US based company eg AT&T or Esat or Eircome cards and call at off peak times - might be better to use a private telepone and offer to pay for the call rather than anything else - it is cheaper.

Irish pubs are smokey but in contrast to the rest of Europe and in particular Germany and Italy and Sprain Ireland is relatively smoke free in most places except for pubs but it is still not as smoke free as the States,

Any other questions,

Weather in ireland is cold at the moment (3 or 4 degrees celius at night and slightly higher during the day but it is dry with very little rain - however the forecast for the coming weekend gives some rain)

Enjoy you holiday
