Last minute change to include Chester: should I?

Jump to last reply

Chester was suggested to me as a stop on the leg of our journey that includes Liverpool then on to the Peak District. I was too sick and distracted to do serious planning and inquiry and now I'm second guessing myself.

Here is our schedule:

Tuesday: Land at MAN, take car service to Liverpool Nadler Hotel, after a long day and night of travel. Arrive MAN at 9 AM, have car booked.

Wednesday: Visit Walker Art Gallery for an exhibit which inspired the trip. We have been to Liverpool before, but have not taken a ferry ride. Visited Lady Lever, that area, shopping and Beatles stuff. Don't care about shopping.

Thursday: drive to Peaks.

Original plan was to drive to Lyme Park, visit the grounds (house will be closed). We have 4 nights in the Peak District.

Now I wonder if we should head out to Chester by car early on Thursday. We could have a good 3 or 4 hours to spend, which is often all I can do on my feet these days. We could catch Lyme Park on another day, or skip it (going to Haddon Hall and Chatsworth).

I can only see this happening if we can drive and park safely in the center of Chester, and if times on the AA route planner are somewhat realistic. We have to be at our Flagg B&B by 7pm.

Feedback is welcome and appreciated.
