Lapland Santa Tours

I am set up my own trip as package tours are outrageously expensive. Does anyone know if hotels in Rovaniemi arrange skidoo trips/husky tours? Are they expensive? Do hotels rent out warm outergarments in winter or are there specialist shops which do this? Thanks folks.

I would suggest that you go further north than Rovaniemi. Yes, there are skidoo/husky/reindeer rides also in Rovaniemi, but that is just sort of gate to Lapland. And surprise, surprise, you will meet Santa also in Saariselkä, Levi and other places. And can do all the activities. I don´t think hotels have rental clothes, but when you book a ride from a local arranger, they always provide you approproate clothing, including footwear.

Just book a flight to Helsinki, and another one from Helsinki to – for example – Ivalo or Kittilä (or Rovaniemi). Then book a hotel or a nice, comfy log cabin with your own sauna and fireplace. And when you are there, book activities from local arrangers. There are plenty. of those. But if you are planning the trip around Christmas or New Year you have to be quick because it is a popular area during that time.

I think you find some ideas here: http://www.lapland.ws/lapland/englis...ppi/index.html

Just returned from Rovaniemi yesterday. The "safari" companies will provide all the outer clothing you need. Luckily my children loved the trip because otherwise I thought the whole thing was very overpriced. We booked the trip ourselves, however, you need to ask many questions about the safaris. They say the reindeer farm and ride is 3 hours, but in fact the time is filled with many other things. The Scandic Hotel was the only moderately priced aspect of the entire 3 days.

I've done the husky ride twice from Yllas. UK charter companies go there. Clothes are provided and very suitable. Did one whole day's safari with lunch thrown in and one afternoon witha tea stop. One of those Best ever experiences each time. I still remember the moment when we went through some powder and I was completely submerged but travelling at 10 mph

Did you go on this trip? Was it fun? I'm curious as we are thinking of taking a family trip here. If you went, did you take kids and how old were they? Thanks!
