Language Classes in Germany mom and kid

Hello!!

I know I have read about people who took a trip to Italy and included language classes with children. I am looking for something similar in Germany. It would be me and my 8 yr. old daughter. My school will subsidize travel for language instruction over the summer so I just need to find the right course(s). The Goethe Institut has one, but it's only for 9-12yrs. Anyone have any ideas?? I'd hate to pass up a chance to go to Europe affordably!

Thanks as always

You don't say where in Germany. Duh. Try a Volkshochschule in your city.

Hello Betty:

I looked at Goethe and believe that they have wide ranging programs in a number of cities. Before I moved away from them, I would drill down further in their offerings. Gradyghost (and please let us know of the outcome).

This would be a good question to post on Toytown. This is a website for English speaking people living all over Germany. You will be sure to find an answer there.

gradyghost and mainhattengirl thanks for the great responses.

spaarne, I didn't say where in Germany because I don't care where it is. I live in Providence, RI (we don't have any Volkshochschule) and would like to study anywhere in Germany or Austria this summer. I'll go where the right course is!

They are starting at 8 years:

And give the Goethe-Institut a call. I bet they can offer some help.

Betty:

Here is a link to a Goethe website that may be helpful:

Looks like the Goethe Institut is going to let her go!
So we're planning on being in Germany for all of August, one week to get from Munich to Schwabish Hall/Michelbach and then three weeks at our German schools. Thanks to all who replied!
