Lancaster gate area OK?

Is the Lancaster Gate/Hyde Park area good for London accommodation?

Yes it will be fine.

I agree, I've stayed there, it's fine -- actually, I like it as it's convenient to public transportation (Airbus from Heathrow, Lancaster Gate Tube, bus lines also) and nice to walk in the park.

Yes. I've stayed in this area several times and close to at least 2 tube stations.

I like this area better than Bloomsbury because I like being near Hyde Park. You can walk across the park and get Harrods, etc. too. We've stayed in this area twice now and have enjoyed it both times.

I've stayed in that area twice now on two separate trips years apart, and would definately go there again on the next one.

Lancaster Gate is fine. Stayed at Columbia Hotel there - right on Hyde Park.

Lancaster Gate is very convenient to Paddington shopping and Paddington station and is excellent if you wish to catch the Heathrow Express from the airport to Paddington. Lancaster Gate underground also gives you another line option to get to places.

It is a very quiet and pretty area with restaurants (Indian, Thai, Italian, etc) and many pubs all within easy walking distance and the accommodation isn't as expensive as other parts of London.

Just returned from London last week. Stayed in Lancaster Gate area. Good location from this station and Paddington. Good local food around Paddinton also. Nice to walk in the park too.
