Lake Lugano - Winetasting.

Hi,
me an my girlfriend plan to spent some days at lake lugano. we stay here http://www.stelladitalia.com/htm_us/fr0_index.htm
What i am looking for is a place where we can taste the fabulous wine of this region. I am not thinking about a training course but about a nice place (maybe somewhere, where its not necessary to drive to) where we can sit an taste different wines.
Would be great if you can share your experiences with me!

Good choice of hotels---we have stayed there twice--with 25 years between stays. This area is not really a wine region. Ask at the hotel for a wine tasting experience---I am sure there is something in Lugano.

Bob there area is very much a wine region but little known to the wide world. The area specialises in wines made prominently from the Merlot grape and the top vineyards produce some excellent wines.

Towards the end of September and in October there are many events around Lugano linked to the vendemmia or grape harvest.

Will try to dig out some info but can you be more precise as to your dates?

Hi,
thanks for your answers. We will stay there 8th to 11th August.
Any other hints what we should not miss are more then welcome.
Kind regards
Miriam

See if the tourism people can help you; there are apparently at least 30 wineries that give tours to the public.
