Lake lodging suggestions Bavaria
Has anyone stayed on any of the lakes in the regions of Bavaria and have a place to suggest?
|
|
Logos999...wow, lots of lakes. We're looking for 1 or 2 places that would be central to visiting Berchtesgaden region, Fussen,Salzburg...
|
So Königssee or Chiemsee (east) or Kochelsee, Walchensee, Staffelsee (center) or Forggensee, Bodensee (big) (west).
I'd get a map and pick the area where I'd want to stay. :-) Lots of lakes in between, but tourists are everywhere south of Munich. (It's Fuessen btw. :-) ) |
Will mosquitoes or flies be an issue in late June or July?
|
It depends where you go. North of Munich it's ticks. Some years they seem to be everywhere. Flies aren't a problem. Mosquitos sometimes, but not really a problem.
It all depends on the weather. |

Anyone else have thoughts/suggestions on this

Hey del,
>looking for 1 or 2 places that would be central to visiting Berchtesgaden region, Fussen,Salzburg.. Salzburg is East of Munich. Fuessen is West of Munich. Give us some details about your planned itinerary. ((I)) |
I, myself, would stay at a Pension in Ehrwald or Lermoos.
http://www.ehrwald.com/ http://www.lermoos.at/ Not that far from Munich and Füssen. But who knows what you prefer? |
Gotta be careful with this Fuessen and Füßen bit.
I learned the hard way that die Füßen is the plural of foot. Or, as one guy in my German class put it, die Füßen is the plural of feet. Our teacher, Herr Pohle, had some comment. Füssen is the name of the town. If the ü is not available, a ue can be substituted. The ss and the ß (not a b) are in reality two different consonant sets. As for a place to stay I can recommend an upscale place particularly IF you are a golfer: The Margarethenhof south and a little east of München is a 4-star establishment. The hotel overlooks the Tegernsee and the ridges of the Bavarian Alps. The rooms are very nice and the food is delicious. The drive around the lake is a slow because of the narrow roads and heavy traffic, particularly on weekends. In the summer season, which is now, a standard double room is about $200 a night including a huge breakfast. If you are not a golfer, you can enjoy the hotel anyhow like I have done while my friends played golf. Enough people there speak English to make the stay easy. There are many interesting places to visit near the hotel including Bad Tolz which has several interesting shops. Google Margarethenhof and it pops right up. |
Singular Plural
der Fuß (Nominativ) die Füße (Nominativ) des Fußes (Genitiv) der Füße (Genitiv) dem Fuß (Dativ) den Füßen (Dativ) den Fuß (Akkusativ) die Füße (Akkusativ) So "die Füßen" isn't the plural ;-) ;-) |
