Lake Garda
I'd appreciate any suggestions for a
very nice, but unpretentious lake-side inn or hotel on Lake Garda.

You may try the Hotel Gardesana, in Torri del Benaco, on the eastern shore of the lake, relatively small driving distance to Verona.
http://www.hotel-gardesana.com/index_eng.htm

Paulo
Second Paulo's suggestion. We stayed at the Gardesana right on the lake and loved this small hotel. balcony overlooking lake for breakfast, etc.
Have fun

Paulo, Mauricio:

Do you know anything about the night life (especially oriented to the young and wild) in and around Garda?

I'm trying to come up with an answer for someone who has written to me.

My days of wild nightlife are unfortunately long only in my memory, Rex :-)

Some 30+ years ago, the place to be at night on Lake Garda in the summer was undoubtely Riva ... I would guess that this would still apply today but I have a hunch that Limone may be "better" (I counted 4 discos the last time we short strolled through town). If I were on my late teens or early twenties I would surely check it out :-)

One other place maybe worth checking out is Malcesine ... In summer, 4 out of every 5 people I've seen around were under 25 ... I bet there's much going on after dark :-)

Paulo
