Lake Como to Munich
 

We are a couple in our early 60's and want some advise on the best way to travel from Lake Como - Zurich- Austria - Vienna - Munich. We both enjoy rail travel, however it can be difficult with suitcases on trains. We should be doing a tour I think but don't like the idea of being stuck with where the tour takes you only. We have 14days from 15th october. Suggestions please

That's very much backtracking. More logical order would be Zürich - Munich - Vienna. Is Zürich a must?

Hi thanks, actually we will be coming from Lake Como and then I thought Zurich, Austria, Germany. Had it in the wrong order in the question sorry.

The train from Como to Zürich takes 3:06. There is a direct train.

The train from Zürich to München takes 5 hours, but you will have lots of changes. Better fly.

Between München and Wien, there is a direkt train which takes 5:20.

Between Zürich and Wien, the train connection is very complicated. Better fly.
