Lake Como Ferry Fares

Looking to stay 6 or 7 days around Lake Como and take day trips around the lake and perhaps nearby areas like Bergamo and Lugano.

So Como seems to make sense as a base, given the rail links, even though the mid-Lake towns like Bellagio and Varenna seem to be the favorites of many.

But that means longer ferry trips to get to some of the more popular destinations. From my reading of the fares table, it would be a Leg 6 fare. Single-way fares are just over 8 Euro but apparently a day pass is 20 Euro.

Can you use that Leg 6 pass to go from Como to say Bellagio and then take another up to another Leg 6 fare from Bellagio? And then to return to Como, I'd have to take two separate boats, each up to a Leg 6 fare?

How the fares work will help determine where to base for this 6-7 day portion of the trip.

When we were there last June, we bought their 6 day pass, 11 Euro per person per day for the entirety of the lake.

One reason that people like the mid-lake area is that there is almost always a boat either coming or going. In summer, roughly a hundred boats a day call at Bellagio. Conversely, there are much fewer boats on the full Como to Colico route. At mid-lake area, there is an hourly service that does a Bellagio, Varenna, Menaggio, Tremezzo/Villa Carlotta and Lenno loop (with a few boats diverting to call at Bellano).

Finally, you can bus from Menaggio to Lugano (roughly one hour).

Buy a day pas for Zone/leg 8 and you are covered for the full extent of the lake.

I was confused about the Pass. That means you can go any leg that is Leg 8 or less?

But that pass is more than 11 Euro and it's only for one day, isn't it?

Where did you buy the 6-day pass? Or is that only for short trips?
