Lake Como - basta!
The residents of Como and many visitors have had enough with the scempio (difficult to translate into English but a total mess would be more or less right) of the lake front walk (passeggiata).
Here is what they have started - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016...ards-to-pm-af/
For those of you wishing to express your disgust with the situation I am looking for a Facebook or similar posting where you can adhere and add your contribution to this worthy cause.

Nothing to do with all the previous replies, but, would you there be a place to rent a small sailboat (19 to 24ft.) and sail from one end of lake Como to the other, anchoring each night, staying in the boat? (Stopping along the way for resupplies or a night out at a nice restaurant, etc...). Would that be a 2 day trip, or a two week trip? Thanks, Douglas

nytraveler - all the stuff belongs to the company which holds the contract. As the whole affair is in dispute etc you cannot (under Italian law) just remove it. One of the biggest problems in Italy is the unfinished contract due to disputes or bankruptcy of one of the parties. Near to where I live some friends have an almost finished six car garage under their house which, because of a dispute working its way through the courst, they have not been able to use for almost 20 years!
traveller1959 - face (la faccia) is important in Italy and it seems that what foreigners think counts for more that the locals. The local paper - La Provincia - has over the last 10 days published pages and pages of photos of people holding up the cards with a special emphasis on foreigners. Every little bit helps!
