rather alternative facts.

I walk in the Lake area almost every spring, since decades!

The first day of spring isn't until March 20. There isn't anything alternative about that.

Re: your revised itinerary, the Cinque Terre trails can suffer from winter weather and be closed for repair in March. Some of the trails have already been closed for the foreseeable future.

There's a hike over the Portofino peninsula, that may be open in late March.

As frencharmoire says, there are a number of nice towns along the Italian Riviera. We like Camogli and Santa Margherita Ligure. Both of these (and others) have easy train access to the Cinque Terre.
