Lahr, Germany (a.k.a calling all army brats)
Does anyone have any travel advice regarding Lahr, Germany?
I want to include it in a trip I'm planning, for the sole reason that it is where I born, but I'm having a @#*& of a time finding information about any hotels, transporation, etc. Can anybody help me?

Which Lahr? Hessen, Baden-Wurttemburg, Rheinland-Pfalz?

Have a look at this website I found on the 'net. It looks a little like the type of visit you want to make and he might have some info.
http://www.lahrbrat.com/recent/edmacdormand.html

Also.... http://post.queensu.ca/~june/lahr.html

Good luck!

Rufus: oops, I'm showing my ignorance here: didn't know there WAS more than one Lahr. The one I'm referring to is in the Black Forest region, just north of Freiburg im Breisgau, just south of Baden-Baden.
sardog10: thank's for digging up those sites for me- they're a good start.

Agnes--don't feel bad, I didn't know either until I started looking it up.

Agnes: The only reason I knew which Lahr was because you also mentioned army. I'm also a Canadian Army brat and was almost but not quite stationed there (posting was cancelled). My brother was posted there in the early 80's and I stayed for a couple of weeks. It's a beautiful area and I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Linda (currently in the Rhineland-Pfalz)

Thanks, Rufus, Linda :)
My dad was posted in Lahr in the mid-seventies. I have no memories of the town as my parents moved back to Canada when I was two years old, but I've always wanted to see the place where I was born. It certainly does look like a beautiful area from the photos I've seen.

I was also an army brat in Germany--US Army in Bamberg from 1959-1961 when I was ages 12-14. Had always wanted to return, and finally did last June. It was better than I had remembered.
