Lagos or Portimao better base to stay
 

Like nice beaches, restaurants, culture, art, relaxation and also can hike around too.

Trying to decide within the Algarve to stay: perhaps Lagos or Portmao? Which is the better base to stay 4days ... or should two days be allocated to each?

Which would you choose and why?

They're not far enough apart to warrant changing hotels etc. Portimao is more central than Lagos, but I prefer Lagos for its restaurants and hotels.
