Laduree CDG hours
 

Hello,

We would like to pick up some macaroons for gifts. We arrive at CDG at 9 pm from Provence and depart to the US at 8am the following morning. Does anyone know if the shop will be open that late or early? Looked online without success..

There is also a Ladurée shop in Terminal 1 if you happen to be going through there.

I also imagined they would have that in the shops, but they get stale extremely quickly, like the same day. They don't really make good gifts for that reason, unless you were giving them to someone upon arrival. I bought some at Laduree once in the morning and i think they were stale by evening.

Macaroons are tricky gifts. I would not do this unless the recipient is a foodie.
Many folks in US don't know such thing exists. "Macroons" don't sound exciting. I get oh, it's nice, reception.
Others only buy products based on what is a good deal. They can't tell the difference between Laduree Macroons you have risked you life and other wannabee products available at home.
And finally they are so fragile! The box they usually give you is not shock proof enough. Even if you carried on, took extreme care, they would still come out as if you dropped them from a table to a hard floor.
I always buy two each for wife and me in addition to a box and eat them while in the waiting lounge. We would then have a chance to eat a few still intact.

Macarons (with one "O") are crazy popular in LA. Seems like every other bakery has them. Some are actually quite good.

They are the latest trendy food item in many cities now, so if the recipient is from a bigger city, they will probably know what they are, and if not, well it is a cookie from France, what do they expect as a gift, anyway. I don't think a gift has to sound exciting, olive oil doesn't sound exciting, either.

But I agree that I don't get this obsession with them or especially from Laduree. The ones someone bought me from a local bakery (not sure if French or one of those gourmet food shops) were actually better than the ones I remember from Laduree. They have other name brand stuff in those CDG gift shops, stuff from Maxims, I forget what.

I think the big problem is they don't age or travel well, so they could be really blah upon eating.
