Ladies Take on Roma!

For our 50th bday 5 friends and I plan to go to Rome in early May.

I have looked at apartment rentals but haven't had much luck finding one that suits us. Some of the women don't know each other at all or well so sharing beds can be tough for some. I am looking for help finding either a beautiful elegant 4 or 5 bedroom apartment conveniently located in Rome. Or a nice hotel where we could maybe get a 3 bedroom suite? We would like to spend between $5-10K for the week, the lower would be better but we're 50 so we need a little luxury here!

Any ideas?

I really think you all would have such a better experience in an apartment...some agencies have more than 1 apartment in the same building. Would you consider renting 2 in one building? You would have more space to all relax in after a day of sightseeing, fridge space to keep some wine/cheese/ beverages. It will really give you a more full experience. I just looked at www.sleepinitaly.com. They show a very lovely apartment with views over Piazza Navona...its name is Navona, view. There are 3 bedrooms one of which has twin beds and a sleeper sofa. There are also other very good agencies that may have enough bedrooms for you.

Look at Residenza Giubbonari; they have five large apartments in the same building in a central location near Campo de Fiori.

What about two triples, or three doubles in a nice hotel? I don't know if I would really want to be in an apartment with a couple of people I'd never met. Sounds like a possible bathroom issue to me. 3 rooms = 3 bathrooms. An apartment for 6 people may have 2 bathrooms at the most.

The Hassler has a Grand Deluxe Suite that can be made into a 3 bedroom suite, but I would imagine you are looking at at least 1500 euro per night, and I'm probably really underestimating that.

The Hotel Nazionale Montecitorio has very nice doubles and triples. You could do any combo you wanted there, and certainly have twin beds. Still, I would want 3 bathrooms.

I'm sure there are other nice places where you could do the same; this is just one that I am familiar with.

I have to figure the math out on this... OK, talking about staying a week, then a double room in your budget would be about 250 euros per night. That isn't cheap, but it isn't that much luxury, either.

29FEB: I just finished rereading Barb's trip report. My impressions are that the OP needs all the space she can get for her gang, that Barb is a great writer, and that there are/were some insane posters here who couldn't have fun reading something if David Sedaris came up and bit them in the a$$.

I read Barbs post with tears in my eyes (from laughing), sent it to all 5 friends who also had the same reaction. I was thinking about maybe doing 4 days in Roma and 3 in Florence and after that decided against moving the masses!! We may be 50 but we don't need WHEEL CHAIRS! lol
