DH is an excellent driver and I am an excellent map reader and navigator.
We each appreciate the other person's talents and consider the duties to be equally important (or equally stressful, like when you've blundered down a narrow one way street and your side mirrors are practically scraping the buildings.) We always consider ourselves lucky to be so well matched! |
I'm like bniemand, he drives, I navigate, we're both happy. I'm always an extra driver on the car though - if he wants a drink I can drive home, or if anything were to happen that he couldn't drive then I can take over.
In Europe he still tends to drive and I navigate, even though we have a GPS system - we like going the scenic route and on small roads, but I give him a day off occasionally and drive. The only place I absolutely won't drive is LA. If we are visitng friend there either they drive, or my husband stays sober. :) I admit I was confused by traffic lights in the US on my first trip there, and stopped in the middle of the junction. Now he prefers to drive in the US :D |
