La Wallonie

Hello!

I will be spending 3 days in Belgium at the end of May. I would like to spend 1 day exploring Brussels, one day in Bruges, and another day somewhere in La Wallonie. Could someone recommend a pretty, interesting town/city/village in the region? I will be based in Brussels during my stay in Belgium.

Thanks, Ross.

Ross,
You might consider Namur. It offers an interesting perspective with two rivers, the Sambre and Meuse joining in its center. The Citadel, an impressive fortress with a 2,000 year old history also offers equally impressive views of the city and rivers below.

Ross, I'm also interested in La Wallonie, and plan to go there soon. You might try www.belgium-tourism.net for more information. Also, if you're still out there, Wes, could you recommend a hotel either in Namur or in nearby areas? Would appreciate any further info myself.

PS. I should have mentioned that I am thinking about Durbuy as a place to stay, and trying to decide whether to visit La Wallonie (rather than solidly planning).

And Ross, I should've mentioned these sites too: www.trabel.com (Belgium Travel Network--good site); www.visitbelgium.com (Belgium Tourist Office); and www.ardennen.com. Hope they're helpful!
Mary,
In Durbuy, consider the Hotel Cote Cour, a three star hotel with restaurant. Prices should be around 3500 BF for a double with bath. Take a look at its website:
www.horest.be/pages/fr/hotels/291.htm
Thanks for the info, Wes! And Ross, I hope this info helps you too, and that you get more postings.

My husband and I will be staying in Durbuy the first week of May. Wes told me he didn't think we needed reservations for that time of year, but since we're there over a weekend, we went ahead and made them. Staying at Clos des Recollets - 2950BF per night.
