La Vieille Auberge / Auberge-Saint-Pierre (MSM) = Same Place??

Hi, I'm in the process of making reservations for Mont St Michel and have been checking previous threads. I saw that NeoPatrick highly recommended Auberge Saint Pierre.

In the meantime, I got a reply to my inquiry to "La Vieille Auberge" with information that seems to indicate it is the same place:

"LA VIEILLE AUBERGE
50170 LE MONT SAINT MICHEL
Télé:00 33 (0)2 33 60 14 03
E -mail: [email protected]
Internet:www.auberge-saint-pierre.fr"

The phone # and internet addresses are the same...

I'm wondering if one company handles several properties. Does anyone know for sure?

Where did you write when you got that reply? I don't know if they have the same management, but they do not have the same phone number or website or address and are not the same place.

The Vieille Auberge's website is this:
http://www.lavieilleauberge-montsaintmichel.com

Their phone number is 02-33-60-14-34

Christina, I emailed my inquiry from the La Vieille site and got the email reply from "auberge saint pierre [[email protected]]" with the information indicated in my post.

The Saint Pierre site must handle inquiries from La Vieille and they include their information....

Any thoughts on La Vieille? Trip Advisor has good reviews except for the "bed bugs" one....

Just email them back and ask for clarification. We stayed at Auberge St. Pierre and liked it. Well, my husband didn't like it as much as I did since he was tired after driving around the D-Day sights the whole day before we got there, and he was grouchy at them for taking 2 phone calls to replace a light bulb. But the room was nice, if smal, with a gorgeous view of the abbey from our window (we had the family room with the spiral staircase to a twin-bedded room). The kids and I had a blast running around the ramparts at night, and you can access them right from the hotel hallway, with a key to get back in. The restaurant was good, too, and not nearly as expensive as I had expected. You can see my review and photos on TripAdvisor. Just look for the one by my screen name - it's the same.

Thanks, MECindy. I had already seen your review, and it sounds like you really enjoyed it. I have sent them a request from their website (in the best French I could). I am sure the same office must hndle bookings for both.

I am crossing my fingers for availability. Venere (linked from TA) doesn't show any for our dates.

Since you mention my recommendation, you probably noticed that we stayed in some "annex" away from the hotel itself. At first we were very disappointed when we arrived and they told us that, but after climbing the stairs to the small building where they put us, opening the shutters, and seeing the views, we quickly changed our minds. It sounds to me like they really are the same (or joint properties).

Hi Patrick, I was glad to see that you thought the annex was good too. I am waiting to hear back from them about 2 nights in April when the tides are high. We had to re-arrange our trip a little after I checked the tides schedule. If I'm going, I'd like to see the full effect!

Thanks for the replies.

Hi, Celiane. We (3 couples) stayed at Auberge St. Pierre in September. We found the demi-pension offered to be of good value. Dinner was excellent and the breakfast buffet had good variety, including crêpes made that morning (the lovely smell wafted up through our window as we were waking up-heavenly)

We were there when one of the higher tides came in- it was very impressive to see-- and I live over the sea, if that tells you anything. We had to make sure our car was moved (they announce this in numerous languages to warn people) and it was surprising to see how much silt they have to move back off the parking lot after the tide has gone back out.

If you would like pix of the hotel rooms and the meals I would be glad to email them to you.

Thank you, Klondike. An email is on the way!
