La Truffiere

Hi,

I've recently read a couple of good reviews about this resturant but would like more input from anybody else that has been there - it looks fairly pricey - is it worth the money for a special dinner? The pictures of it on the website look beautiful, but how's the food?

Where IS the restaurant? That would be helpful to know.

Paris.

Sorry....Paris off Rue Moufftard. I had heard that there were a lot of "touristy" places in this area and didn't know if this fit into that catagory.

I haven't eaten here in about 5 years but it was unusual for the neighborhood. It had great food and was much more serious than the restaurants right on Mouff. Amuses bouches and petits fours were complimentary. It is French Southwestern food and it is a beautifully restored old building. Fireplace in the front room and caves underneath that may have been used to hide people during WWII. I hope it is still as good so it's nice to know that there have been some good reviews.

We ate at La Truffière in Nov. 2003, a most memorable meal with excellent service; I think basically everything has truffes in it in some manner, it was pricey and very good, upscale atmosphere and sincere attention.
When we walked out , it had started raining and the owner followed us with an umbrella to our cab which was waiting for us up the street.... how sweet is that !

Is this the one? It's right off the rue Mouffetard. You can read reviews of it on Cityvox:

Sounds great!

Thanks for all the input. I love truffles and the pictures of it (cool cave atmosphere looked fun) - may have to put this one on the list - although the way my list is growing I may be eating several meals a day!!

westiedogs,
LOL! My husband keeps telling me we can't possible eat at ALL the restaurants I want to.

Best,
Sandy
