La Scala

Am I wasting my time dreaming of going to La Scala on Sept 28, 2012 to see La Boheme?
It sounds almost impossible to get tickets. I was planning on ordering from their website as soon as tickets go on sale in late July. Should I make other plans?

Are there scalpers? I mean, ticket agencies as there are in the US, France, and the UK?

Chism Nov 10th, 2011 07:37 AM

Yes there are sclpers always. Is that my option?

There is another current thread "Milanese Opera" which deals with the same issue. You apparently have to pay through the nose to a ticket agency, stand in line overnight, or pay through the nose to a scalper and not even know if the ticket are genuine. They are writing about a Netrebko performance, so you might do better if the singers are less well known.

IIRC, we payed about $120 US for each seat at the Paris Opera (Bastille) to hear "Luisa Miller" last spring. There were plenty of seats, but they were not cheap, even on the Bastille's own website.

I wouldn't make other plans - yet. You have just as much chance (even if small) as everyone else when they go on sale. Just be at your computer the minute they open up sales.

Thanks- I will be at my computer. I am on La Scala's newsletter list so I should know when they go on sale.
