Grace, here's the information for you.
We had a hard time getting in but it was because it was the first week that the book came out. It should be alot easier now. Another good restaurant in the area, is La Casserole in Salviac.

Having just read Saunder's book for the second time, I would like very much to have a couple of meals here during our visit to the Dordogne in mid-October. The food sounds wonderful and light and the place not stuffy....So three questions: How far of a drive is this from Domme?
How is the food these days? Can I reserve a day or so ahead for during the week?

Sorry, that should be Sanders, not Saunders. I really liked this book!

If you go to viamichelin.com you will find it is 34km and 37 minutes for the drive...

Topping to see if anyone has visited this restaurant, the town and surrounding areas.

In late June, we'll probably follow the driving itinerary that's described in the Micheiin Green Guide.

Who is Sanders & what is the book???

Stu Dudley

Stu - the book is From Here, You Can't See Paris by Michael S Sanders. I've reserved a copy from my library and can't wait to read it.

I just finished reading the book as well. We will be in that area the second week of September and definitely want to eat there. Does anyone know if the original owners are still there? Read on another site that the restaurant was up for sale.

Les Arques is an attractive, small village. There is a lovely Romanesque chruch in town, with a beautiful stature by Zadkine. Also a whole Zadkine museum.http://www.quercy-tourisme.com/le-lo...es/musees.html

In addition, in the woods outside the village there is another small church with lovely frescoes. Lots of things in the area, including Cazals, with a good Sunday morning market, another good - but very different, 'rustique' restaurant at Pomarede, the chateau de Bonaguil, Puy Levesque ...

We ate at La Recreation last summer and it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten--just absolutely wonderful. The owners are delightful as well.
