La Minerva Hotel-Capri. Anyone stay lately? Higher floor w/view & balcony or lower floor w/ less view but large balcony?

We're set on staying at La Minerva in Capri next Sept but they emailed us this:

"Euros 195 per night.
The category of Superior rooms had many different types of room. There are
rooms higher up and with a better view but with smaller terrace just with
table for breakfast and some rooms located more down and with a bigger
terrace with sun beds also. What kind of preferences do you have ?"

Any suggestions? We like a great view AND a large balcony! Guess that's not an option. Is any part of this hotel noisier than the other, like, the lower rooms, would they be more noisy?

Thanks,
Steve R

ttt - we are also planning a future visit to Minerva and interested to hear the differences in the rooms.

We stayed at La Minerva in late September, in one of their "deluxe double" rooms, on a "lower" floor with a large terrace (maybe 300 square feet, with chaise lounges, breakfast table and chairs, and bougainvilla); this is a "higher" graded room than what you've selected (270 vs. 195 euros/night), and the view on this lower floor was incredible. The more expensive room also had a bathroom with jacuzzi and picture window.

I guess what I'm saying is that your view will be incredible no matter which level you're on. In that case, I'd be inclined to opt for a larger terrace instead a smaller one. In terms of noise, the hotel is small (by Capri standards) and very quiet. I'd doubt that the lower level is any noisier than the upper level - in fact it might be just the opposite.

If you'd like more information let me know. I've got some pictures, but those on the hotel's web site are better quality than what I have and are accurate.

We stayed there in June, and enjoyed it. Our room was on a lower-level floor with a large balcony, and the view was not bad at all. I guess the view is better from the roof, but you could choose to have your breakfast up there.

Here is the appropriate page from our trip report, with pictures from our balcony and from the roof terrace:

Pretty, huh?

Great info! I will tell them then that we want to stay in the lower floor with with that big, bad balcony :o)
