My husband and I (babyboomers) want to use La Clusaz as our home base during an 8-day stay in June. We can rent a car or travel by rail. For sentimental reasons, our must sees are Zermatt and Interlaken. Because our lodging in La Clusaz is free, we want to keep our outside lodging to a minimum, but a night or two would be ok. Please help us plan our trip. Thanks to all, as always I am sure your suggestions will be great!!! Merry Christmas to All

If you are interested in visitng Zermatt and Interlaken, you should base yourself closer to them than La Clusaz. Interlaken is about 5-6 hours from La Clusaz. Whatever savings you will get from lodging there for 8 nights may be lost in other transportation costs.<BR><BR>Do you know what you want to see in the 8 days in La Clusaz? You could visit Annecy and possibly Geneva.

we have the use of a chalet in La Clusaz, so we really can;t our lodging, especially when it is free. We can eliminate Interlaken, but we forget to add that we want to try to visit a large casino. we are open to all suggestions for our visit. Thanks

I'm certain that a few of our drivers can tell you about the possibility of visiting Zermatt as an overnighter. But there are beautiful and interesting places in the south-eastern part of Switzerland. Lausanne, Geneve, Nyon, Aigle, Montreux, and have you been to Lyon, Annecy, and Megeve in France? Seems to be you've got a wonderful place to stay for a week in June! J.

My suggestion would be to visit the Swiss Rail site, which I think is at http://www.sbb.ch/pv/sts_e.htm<BR>and plug in a few distinations to get an idea of how long it would take to get there. I haven't yet been there, but I have read that the rail travel in Switzerland is pleasant, scenic, and efficient.
