Just wanted to add that I found out that La Calcina tends to be lenient about the personal check deposit in the off season(s)and might only require a credit card # as a guarantee.

I did hear back from them and will add that they have been a pleasure to deal with. I was told that for a longer stay, they require a check deposit as opposed to a c/c number. I suspect, as NYCFoodSnob mentioned, that a view room in July has something to do with it, too. Which is fine with me. After reading everyone's wonderful experiences with this hotel, we are really looking forward to our stay.

I love this hotel and have had only excellent experience with them on two stays. If the weather is nice, see if you can reserve the private upstairs deck for a few hours (seems most guests don't know about it). La Calcina is a beautiful place to stay, well-run, cool, calm, a real delight.
