Krakov Poland

Going to a wedding in Krakov in July with elderly parents can you please recommend a good hotel very very central with a lift. It needs to be near the main square.

I stayed at the Pod Roza which fits your requirement. It is a very nice hotel and does have a lift, even to the second floor. It's only about a block off the main square. Here's the website
http://www.hotel.com.pl/podroz/index.htm

The only qualification I can give on that hotel is that the mattress I had was extremely hard. If one likes hard mattresses, it may be fine, but it really was hard. I have seen a couple other comments on that on Tripadvisor or somewhere, so I guess it wasn't just mine.

The Hotel Wentzl is right on the square and very nice, but you'll have to check on the lift option for them, as I don't know. I know a lot of Krakow hotels don't have lifts.

If you are just looking for a decent hotel (by "good"), you can also check out the Campanile which is right off the main square and a French chain. That is a more modern hotel and has AC, for example (which you will probably want in July -- the Pod Roza has it, also), so it might have a lift, although their website doesn't mention it. You could email and ask them

What about trying a self catering apartment. We recently stayed in www.sodispar.com/g - it was a beautiful place & about 2 mins walk from Mkt Square as we had an 11 year old with us. The owners are so helpful & there is definitely a lift. They have other apartments too & give a good deal on price. www.sodispar.com - I'd send my own parents there to be honest...

Thank you for your replies. I am interested in the Amadeus. Has anyone been to the Amadeus in Krakow?

We walked by the Amadeus several times last week and popped in to check it out. Very nice but the street is quite busy and there was some construction going on (hopefully will be finished by July!). It is close to the main square, but not as close as the Wentzl. A little closer than the Campanile.
For reference, we stayed at the Batory. While it's a nice little hotel (and good value for money--we paid only 55 euros per night inc. breakfast for rooms that could easily have slept three people), it was a good 10 to 15 minutes walk to the Main Square. Some of the hotels tend to sell themself as closer to the Square than they really are, so compare carefully their actual location with their claim of how close they are to the main market square.

We stayed at the Hotel Wentzl several years ago. It's a nice hotel but it doesn't have a lift.

A hotel I think you should definitely check out is the Hotel Grodek. We went inside to look it over. It is very elegant, close to the main square (although not right on it) and definitely has a lift. It also has a restaurant that is well recommended. This is a new hotel (in a beautifully renovated older building) and as it becomes more well known it will probably emerge as one of the most popular 4 star choices. It's the place I would choose to stay in if I went back to Krakow.
