kosher meals...
 

Going to Italy end of April on Northwest. I would like to order a kosher meal, but Northwest can't tell me what is in it. I have heard that often the kosher meal on the airlines is just a vegetarian meal. <BR><BR>Anybody here have a kosher meal recently on NWA who can tell me what is included in the meal?

I ordered a kosher meal a couple of times about a year ago, thinking that if the airline caterer makes fewer of them, they might be better. The airlines in question weren't Northwest though. It was slightly better than the usual, but that's not saying much. My dinner was chicken, potato, veg, salad,roll, margarine, cake. Sound familiar? There's no reason to assume that the kosher meal would be vegetarian, but I can't speak for NWA. Strictly kosher is strictly kosher, regardless of veg. or meat.

I have had kosher meals on other airlines but not NWA. You will not get a better meal. As Elaine says, you will get a combination of items. A kosher meal that includes meat will have no dairy items at all, no butter or creamy sauces which contain milk or cheese. Also, the meat has to be kosher and obviously there will be no pork products. So if they serve breakfast, you are likely to get eggs but no cold cuts.

I usually get kosher meals and enjoy them very much. Hot dinners are usually chicken, turkey, or beef. Breakfasts are eggs, cereal, or yogurt plus the usual bread, etc. Snack is sandwich with chicken, salami, turkey, etc. You can get the usual soda, alcohol, breads, coffee also. Special meals are usually served first. <BR><BR>The airlines have 2 or 3 kosher suppliers, which you get depends on where you leave from. You can try it, and if you don't like it going over, you can cancel it for the return.
