I did google. Am interested in hearing from Fodor folks who may've visited.

You wrote you knew nothing about Kos. Therefore I suggested to google first.

How long do you get to stop in Kos? We spent a week in Kos, a few years ago in early October. It is a well developed island and popular with package holidays. Some resorts are over developed but the island still has plenty to explore.
Most likely you will stop in Kos town which was well worth a visit. For anyone who enjoys wandering round ruins, there were plenty, from 2000 year old Greek and Roman remains, to a huge Crusader castle. There was a good pedestrian area with shops, restaurants and bars and a little market hall where I bought loads of cheap herbs and spices. If you have more time, other places to visit are the Asklipion, the ruins associated with Hippocrates, the mountain villages – watched the sunset and had a good meal in Zia. Loads of beaches – found some uncrowded ones on the stretch past Paradise Beach (which itself had too many sun-beds for my liking) and also at Mastihari. The trip to the volcanic island of Nisyros was interesting, you get some time in the little village and get to go right down into the volcanic core and see bubbling, steaming holes surrounded by sulphur crystals. |
thanks! We'll only have a few hours in Kos, but from the sound of things, I expect we'll wish we had a lot more. (Going in early October)

Hi Poss,
If you will have few hours in Kos, within the center there are enough to visit and keep you busy. You do not need to explore vastly they are easy to spot. Have fun, Murat |
