Konigsee boat tour and waterfalls
Hi all. We are planning on taking a boat tour of Lake Konigsee and am trying to decide how far we should go on the boat. I want to see the waterfall on Lake Konigsee and cant' figure out if we would pass it on the way to the St. Bartholemew church, or do we need to go further down the lake?
I did see you can see a waterfall after a short hike from the Salet stop, and I would be OK missing that - the pics make it look like that waterfall is more a trickle than a raging waterfall.

If you want to do the Koenigsee tour just for the waterfall, skip it. There are bigger and better waterfalls in Austria and Germany.
If you take the boat, take it to the very end of the lake. It's quite pretty there. On a busy day, I would skip getting off at St. B., just take a pix from the boat, it's the most scenic view anyhow. You can get stuck at St. B. for quite some time, because only as many people as are getting off can get on; there are no St.B. trips only. Also, the boats have no facilities!

I am a bit concerned about there being no facilities on the boat.
If we can do a shorter trip, I was hoping to see the waterfall and St. B in that shorter boat ride. Do you pass any waterfalls on the way to St. B?

You do pass waterfalls on the way to St B., but they are not worth going on the boat trip to see. They are not in any way 'special'. The only reason to go on the trip is for the alpine scenery and the tranquillity. Having been once, I don't feel the need to go again. I would however go up the nearby Jennerbahn again: the trip and the views were well-worth the effort. I also thought that the Salt Works Tour was better than the Konigsee, and three hours in the Watzmann Therme was best of all!

Thanks, abeben, I will look into those. We have a done a salt mine tour in this area on our last visit to this area - we all enjoyed that.
Another Koenigsee question. If we take the boat all the way to Salet, get off there to walk over to the other lake - how much time should be budget for this?
I have read there can be long waits for boats back from St. B's - how about from Salet?

I went to Salet, then had a pleasant walk to the other lake, had a glance around and a rest, then headed back to the dock. That all took about ninety minutes. There was a wait of less than half an hour till the next boat came. They seemed reasonably regular.
