Know a Decent Hotel in Florence?

I'm looking for a nice, clean hotel with a private bath. I will be in Florence for only two nights in mid march. A modest price range of 110-120 euro is appreciated. This is my first trip to Italy and I would like to stay near the center of the city. Can anyone help??

Hi! Only been to Florence once and stayed at Hotel Pendini (or might have been called Pensione Pendini). It's nothing fancy, but definitely fits into the "decent" category. The location however was fantastic. Right in the main square, across from the Duomo. Could walk to everything. Rooms have private baths (quite nice actually) and our room look out into a little courtyard so was quiet. The breakfast was just croissants and jam, but was actually one of the best we had in Italy! And there's a computer with internet access that you can use for free, which was kind of nice for us on our 2 week trip. Not sure of the current rates, but it wasn't too expensive when we went (probably less than 150 euros.) Hope this helps! Have a great trip!

Hi theburgers-

I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions from seasoned travelers. But it's worth checking out Hotel Globus. I stayed there Nov 03 and really liked it. The hotel was renovated in June 02, and everything is clean and "modern looking". It's 5mins walk from train station, and 10mins from Duomo. You can take a look at their website:

Have a good trip!

hotel casci - www.hotelcasci.com. Lots of good feedback here. I only spent a night there, but would certainly (hopefully someday) return.

In October a friend and I stayed at the Hotel Alessandra in Florence, tel 011 39 05 528 3438, and really liked it. Quiet sidestreet downtown, attentive service, wonderfully decorated, the best "breakfast" we had in Italy, good restaurants nearby, and all for E 95 for twin beds, no ensuite, but two very close by. Other rooms had ensuites. I envy you Florence!

Hi!

I have reservations at the Hotel Casci in Mid March, after reading very high praise on this board and others.

They quoted us 120 Euros for a double with a private bathroom and breakfast. They were quickly responsive to our e-mails and seem very helpful so far.

I will ask them when we check in if the Burgers are there. Maybe we are related - I am 1/4 Schallenberger!

We stayed at the Albergo Firenze in 2000, and were quite happy with it. We had a big room with four beds that overlooked the courtyard. The bathtub was nice and big. It's about 2 blocks south of the Duomo on a pedestrian street, so it's centrally located and fairly quiet. You can find other reviews about it in Tripadvisor.
