KLM Help!!!!!
I am ready to book a flight to Rome right now! But I need advice. I can get a good fare flying KLM from Minneapolis. Has anyone flown across the pond with KLM? What did you think?
gen... I think that KLM is the ONLY good fare from MPS... If you have a choice of KLM or Northwest take KLM better amenities... otherwise they are the same airline.
OK, Danna, I trusted you and booked the flights on KLM! Anyone else have any input on this airline?
KLM is one of several European airlines whose in-flight service & safety record is on par with U.S. airlines; you should have no problems. You'll be changing planes at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam - it's a big airport but signs are all in English as well as Dutch.
gen, KLM is a decent transatlantic carrier. Since you're flying out of Minneapolis, I presume you are a member of Northwest Airlines WorldPerks program. If you're not, then join immediately and be sure to get that number entered into your flight record when you travel, since you're probably looking at at least 10,000 miles for the round-trip flight.

KLM is Northwest's European partner and provides codeshare service to many of the destinations that Northwest offers, often hubbing out of Amsterdam. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them and have flown KLM on a number of occasions.

Happy Contrails!
Yes! We will be getting Worldperks miles! Yea! Anyone else flown KLM?
I find it kind of funny someone would ask "anyone ever flown KLM...". You make it sound like a small, unknown, fly-by-night operation when in fact it is one of the world's largest carriers and many millions of North Americans have flown to Europe on KLM. I like them very much.
Oops! I didn't mean to imply that no one has ever flown KLM or that it was a dinky airline! Perhaps I should have asked this question in a different way. Just asking for a little help.
We've flown KLM from Detroit to Amsterdam many times; all flights have been fine. I have flights booked for Sept & Oct on KLM to Amsterdam.
If they offered the best fare I'm sure you did the right thing.
j.

I have flown KLM often. Its one of my favorate airlines. Their business class is among the tops IMO.
I am a frequent flyer on KLM; I do about 30 flights with them each year. They used to be good, but since their alliance with Northwest they seemed to have learnt cost-cutting from them. They are only *average* now. A lot depends on the crew: I have had delightful crews and crews straight from hell. The younger women and men are mostly OK; the older women often are bitches.
Yeah you will be fine on KLM. All the large airlines are cost cutting I don't think KLM or Northwest are any worse than AA or United. I was pleasantly surprised on a recent flight from Boston, I had heard some horror stories about NW but they were fine. As for the previous poster we had mainly an 'older' crew and they were pleasant enough. At least we saw them on, AA it's like being on the Marie Celeste after the food has been served!

I have flown KLM MPS to AMS and return. I have flown Qantas LAX to SYD and return. Both flights coach in those tiny seats. Not a whole lot good to say about the experience. Rather crowded. Especially when the person in front of you lowers his seat back. Can't wait for the time to pass while airborne. They do try to distract you with food and movies. Nothing helps.
