Kismetchimera: Sleepinitaly's Via della Croce apt.

Did you rent with sleepinitaly and, if so, how was the apartment?

Current photos on the website make it look less attractive than the photos that were used last year. But it looks spacious (for 2) and bright -- two essentials for me.

I worry about noise, since the website says it has double-glazing to counter street noise. (We will be in Rome in March).

Second, the apt. might be a little "tired" -- the furniture looks very traditional, ie it clearly is not recent. But the place looks quite highly polished...

We don't care much about kitchens but I do like a good shower/ bathroom. How would you rate that?

Tedgale, I have replied to your inquires at the other post.
I have noticed that the apartment looked different, the owner must have changed the furnitures.

I was pleased with it although that in the evening is quite noisy because below there is a restaurant..Cant remember the name, but I went there few times when I was a teen.
I always like Piazza di Spagna location although that many fodorite's prefer the Piazza Navona area, which to me is extremely noisy and very touristic.

If I can help you let me know..Ciao,
AnnaMaria

Ooops, I should have said: Liked..

Just to clarify: On the other thread you said you rented an apartment in via delle Carrozze. This apartment is in via della Croce.

Are we talking about the same apartment?

kismetchimera Dec 17th, 2007 04:14 PM

Tedgale, I dont know why Via delle Carrozze is on my mind..Sorry about that...
The apartment that I rented was indeed in Via della Croce and the Bavarian Restaurant was the place that I mentioned.
However, after doing some research I realized that we were talking about a different apartment.I have dealt with sleepinitaly and this was the apartment.

Sorry about the misunderstanding,..

Kismetchimera:

The via della Croce apartment IS the one I was considering.

Because of your warning about restaurant noise, we have decided NOT to rent the via della Croce apartment.

Thanks for the advice.

(PS: WHY is there a Bavarian restaurant in Rome????)

kismetchimera Dec 18th, 2007 02:35 PM

Tedgale,
I was 20 years old the last time I was at that restaurant and believe me that was a LONG time ago.

I left Rome at that age, got married and followed my American DH around the world. He was in the AF..

The ambiance, the food and the Beers were German.

Have a great time in Rome..I was there this past July.

If it was long ago - and the restaurant is still in business - it must be quite successful.

But if I were in Rome -- or rather, WHEN I AM in Rome -- I will stick with la vera cucina casalinga romana

kismetchimera Dec 18th, 2007 04:45 PM

Without doubt is the best choice..Dont forget to try Suppli al Telefono..they are delicious Rice croquette filled with Mozzarella, dipped in egg, flour and seasoned bread crums, then fried..
Another Roman speciality is Saltimbocca all Romana, made with veal scalloppini, sage and prosciutto..
Bon Appetit..
