Kinsale vs. Cork
 
I am trying to decide between Kinsale and Cork. I've read that Cork is Industrial and not very nice and that Kinsale in quaint but expensive...what is the consensus? Does anyone know anything about the Kinsale 7 Rugby Tournament in May? Thanks!

Well- basically, should I stay in Kinsale and make Cork a daytrip? Is it even worth it to stop in Cork - what is there? Are you familiar w/ the Rugby Tourn?

Liz:<BR><BR>I would stay in Kinsale. It is a very quaint town!<BR>I would go past Cork and up to Blarney Castle. Yea, I know it is touristy,,,but it is THE BLARNEY CASTLE!! Then do all your shopping at the Blarney Woolen Mills. Now that you have your gifts you can spend the rest of the trip sightseeing!!!<BR>JOHN

you can do both. kinsale is brilliant, but cork would have more to keep you busy. the are only 45 min..ish apart. try to drive out to crookhaven/mizen head also while your in those parts. check out a map. trust me!

Kinsale or Shanagarry in West Cork. Not Cork CIty.

I agree with John. Enjoy Kinsale and go through Cork on your way to Blarney Castle. Then continue on up to visit Adare.

To Kam:<BR>Shanagarry is in East Cork- opposite direction from Kinsale. There isn't alot to see there, aside from Ballymaloe and Stephen Pearce pottery.

Liz,<BR><BR>I'd opt for Kinsale, but two days would be sufficient. While expensive, it's a good deal of fun to stroll Kinsale's narrow streets, do some window shopping (and even spend some money on some quality gifts), have lunch in the Blue Haven's courtyard, or take a stroll along the waterfront while heading for the dramatically situated Charles Fort. Along the way, have a couple pints at the nearby Bulman's Pub.<BR><BR>Kinsale is also nicely situated for exploring the byways of West Cork. This is lovely countryside, filled with attractive villages and pretty scenery.<BR><BR>As regards Cork City, I believe Fodor's once said it contains &quot;no compellling sights.&quot; True, but the city has a good deal of positive energy. Nevertheless, I'd still opt for Kinsale.<BR><BR>Best of luck.
