Kingussie or Plockton?

Still planning our Scotland trip for first ten days of May, and trying to decide between Kingussie or Plockton (big Hamish MacBeth fans) for a two or three night stay. Looking for a "quaint" village. Any preferences or recommendations?

Plockton is much prettier than Kingussie

Troe - Plockton is prettier. But they are quite far apart - what sorts of things do you want to see in those 2 or 3 days?

Plockton is good for Skye, Eilean Donan and some terrific loch/coastal scenery

Kingussie is good for Blair Atholl, Loch Tay, Speyside and some terrific mountain scenery.

You could easily spend 3 days in either place. But the village itself? Plockton is more scenic . . . . .

Outside chance that the weather in Kingussie will be better in early May than out in Wester Ross. But IMO Plockton is preferable.

Thanks. Decided to ask my husband if he has apreference (I know, what a novelty to give the spouse some input) and he said Kingussie.
