There is a King Tut Exhibit at the Porte de Versailles.

I've seen that King Tut exhibit several times, it never gets old.
joke Seriously, I have, although the original I saw in Los Angeles in the late 1970s was the best (that was the one that inspired Steve Martin), and I've been to Cairo so you can't beat the original place as they have so much more than tours. I remember seeing the more recent one in San Francisco several years ago and it didn't wow me as much but maybe I'm just getting older and more jaded. |

I haven't been to any of the King Tut exhibits, so I'm going to check it out. Might be good for a rainy afternoon.

This is an exhibition of replicas, no?

Thanks for the tip. I'll be in Paris in August.

I remember reading articles about how difficult it was to keep the show touring but it was going to anyway, in spite of the recent revolution. There is a real touring exhibit now that is a lot of artifacts from the tomb, lots of gold. However, this touring exhibit is missing the gold funerary mask that is so well-known, although that was in the original touring show in the 1970s (and is in Cairo). I think it is in Seattle right now
There is an exhibit only of replicas that is in Frankfurt, Germany right now, though. I wonder as the Seattle one says it is going to be there until next January so maybe the Paris one is the fakes from Frankfurt. IN which case, I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. This is the actual URL http://www.toutankhamon-expo.com/ It does look like the fakes as I see in the corner it says Paris/Frankfurt. |
The entire exhibit is replication, but I'm seeing it Monday anyway, as the reviews are very good.
