Kimye Wedding Firenze

Is anyone in Florence right now who can comment on the Kardashian/West wedding at Forte Belvedere?

I just wondered if this show caused any travel problems or was just business as usual.

Thanks for any info. you can give.

No, but I guess if they won't let you put on a circus in the Duomo I suppose some half-forgotten fortress will just have to do.

nytraveler May 24th, 2014 10:45 AM

Oh my god - don't we have enough of these clowns in the tabloids? Do they have to be imported into a travel forum too?

I am SO sick of seeing that woman waving her fat bottom all over the world - if everyone wold just ignore her perhaps she would just go away!

hetismij2 May 24th, 2014 10:48 AM

It isn't a legal marriage in any case. Just an expensive sham.

Pepper_von_snoot May 24th, 2014 11:11 AM

If any of you Mensa members bothered to read my post I did not ask for comments on the marriage.

I asked if the wedding caused any TRAVEL problems to those in the Centro of Firenze.

Learn to read.

We did read your post Thin. That doesn't mean we can't say what we want in reply.

The Snoot speaks again. Never to be taken seriously.

tuscanlifeedit May 24th, 2014 07:31 PM

Why you people gotta be hatin on Kimye?

StCirq May 24th, 2014 07:39 PM

The Italian newspapers I've read don't mention must disruption of tourism, except lots of special police activity outside the hotels she and her sister and the various entourages are staying at. It's kindof a hit-and-run event, so I doubt it will disrupt much of anything.

IMDonehere May 24th, 2014 08:25 PM

Because those two represent everything that is wrong with America's focus and idiotic fascination with people who have no identifiable skills or talents. OK, small concession in you like West. I had no idea where they were or what they were doing until this posting. Why do people have an emotional investment in strangers? Especially egomaniacal children.

kleeblatt May 25th, 2014 12:48 AM

Most of Europe doesn't really care who is Kimye is, even though there are reports about them almost daily in the papers.

Seriously, over here, she's just one of creepy Richard Lugner's paid "dates" to attend the Vienna ball.

MissPrism May 25th, 2014 01:02 AM

I have vaguely heard of this woman, but have no idea what she does. I assume that they paid through the nose for the venu. One day of vulgarity might be worth it

hetismij2 May 25th, 2014 01:18 AM

MissPrism, I don't think she does anything. She is famous for being famous as far as I can tell.

kleeblatt May 25th, 2014 01:34 AM

She fails to find clothes that fit her in a flattering way, she has a pout that is only superceded by her now husband's pout and she has a mother who is one smart cookie when it comes to marketing.

Cathinjoetown May 25th, 2014 02:50 AM

I'm probably the only person within 50 miles of where I live who knows who they are. Wonderful. Never any conversation about them.

After seeing this thread, I looked at the "Mail on Sunday" photos this morning, just a couple of murky shots, I would guess the actual photos have been sold to "People" or similar for a bomb. Really trashy looking people--the bride and groom, the family, the guests.

According to the Mail, much of the crowd yesterday were teenage girls who thought Justin Bieber was a guest. More trash.

kleeblatt May 25th, 2014 03:27 AM

The Daily Mail commenters basically all spewed dislike towards these two: all 3,000 commenters.

Suffice to say, they help sell papers.

bilboburgler May 25th, 2014 03:43 AM

No who Kardashian/West? Don't tell me Batman from the TV series is getting married, he is a bit old surely.

mamcalice May 25th, 2014 04:59 AM

Most Americans, at least the ones I know, don't give a fig about these people. I certainly don't and can't explain why I read this thread. I wonder why they chose Florence. Maybe they like Renaissance art!

WeisserTee May 25th, 2014 05:13 AM

"America's focus and idiotic fascination with people who have no identifiable skills or talents."

Point of interest: this is hardly a U.S.-only affliction. There is an "idiotic fascination" with the useless but famous in many countries. The UK is every bit as bad as the U.S., perhaps even worse, in this sad habit. And I read a funny interview with one actor who said the German fans were the weirdest and most obsessive -- they send him their dirty underwear. This German fan habit was one of the reasons he hired an assistant to open his fan mail. :-0

WeisserTee May 25th, 2014 05:15 AM

And fyi, he gets this from both male and female fans.

hetismij2 May 25th, 2014 05:15 AM

As I said it isn't a legal marriage anyway, since they didn't meet the residence requirements.
Bilbo, West is a rapper, Kardashian a big bummed, much married, reality TV bimbo. They lumbered their daughter with the name North West, and fill the gossip columns.

bilboburgler May 25th, 2014 05:30 AM

"Bilbo, West is a rapper, Kardashian a big bummed, much married, reality TV bimbo. They lumbered their daughter with the name North West, and fill the gossip columns."

Thanks Hetismij, I have no idea what a rapper is but I'm sure she does a great job. What a strange first name, did the poor kid get a sensible middle name that she can transfer to or will she be called Nora?

bilboburgler May 25th, 2014 05:31 AM

Out of interest why are we interested in their affect on Florence, very few cars there so I doubt if it has any affect

flpab May 25th, 2014 05:43 AM

They flew out this morning, didn't take in much of the sights. I think they caused more of a mess in Paris. Great for the local economy in both France and Italy though. Millions spent on this lavish spectacle.

IMDonehere May 25th, 2014 05:58 AM

Weisser

The US seems to be the source of much of this contamination. Even our gossip is basically xenophobic with the exception of the British Royals and few others who speak English like the Aussies.

WeisserTee May 25th, 2014 06:13 AM

"The US seems to be the source of much of this contamination."

Oh, rubbish. There is a steady stream of non-U.S., home-grown "contamination" in the UK and other countries.

IMDonehere May 25th, 2014 07:00 AM

Oh, yeah, well our rubbish is worse than your rubbish.

The point remains that Americans care little about most foreign rubbish and the world seems interested in some of American rubbish. And that is due to American movies, videos, CD's, and TV shows, especially the rubbish.

So there.

flpab May 26th, 2014 04:47 AM

They have invaded Ireland now! The private jet landed at Cork and they are settled in over by Midleton.

AlessandraZoe May 26th, 2014 05:04 AM

Rubbish like them has always existed. That said...

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I do like the nickname they gave the baby: "Nori". The kid is cute, too.

NYCFoodSnob May 26th, 2014 05:39 AM

I'm surprised Andrew hasn't come here to scream about all the "IRRELEVANT POSTS." Perhaps he's a Kim fan.

Too bad for Thin. He should have realized that most people who post here only talk about travel. They rarely actually do it.
