Killarney Area
 

This is what I have planned for doing at Killarney. Would any of you be able to tell me if it would be best to cover this in one day or two? I would say two days so you can enjoy what you're seeing. The tour of Muckross House and going up to the Torc Waterfall there will take around 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Ladies View is a bit of a drive out of town. Aghadoe is on the opposite side of Killarney; it has a good view of the lakes but you could omit it if pressed for time. If you can you might allow 2 1/2 days. Try to make it to Kenmare if you can, we loved it there.

The Laurels is just too TOURISTY for anyone but stupid Yanks to enjoy. Go to a real pub and hang out with the locals instead of tourists. That's why you go to Ireland!

If you are looking for a great place to stay I recommend the Killarney Lodge. Location is great--park you car and walk any place in Killarney. Catherine and Mark the owners are delightful. The lodge is beautiful and the breakfast is delicious.

I loved Crystal Springs B&B - about a mile out of town, right on the river flesk.<BR><BR>Eileen B. is a great hostess. <BR> <BR>

I unfortunately ate in the Laurels once, during my one and only trip that included the town of Killarney. What a hole! The food was bad, overpriced for what you got, and service wasn't very good either. Even the atmosphere was bad! I should have known going in, but every place else in town was packed. But Killarney is a hell hole anyway (the town, not the countryside).

I stayed at the Applecroft B&B when I was in Killarney http://homepage.eircom.net/~applecroft/<BR><BR>Our room was spacious and the owners couldn't have been more gracious.<BR><BR>I agree with the other posters. Stay away from the other tourists. We went to a restaurant in Killarney and the waitress was so surprised when we made a comment about the rude Americans that were just leaving (we're American). She thought that was the norm. We were very quick to correct her.

I stayed at the Killarney Park Hotel last month. A bagpiper greeted us as we arrived and the employees go the extra mile. We were even escorted from our car to the hotel door one rainy day by doormen with umbrellas.
