Kihme.. not to miss flamenco January or February in Madrid?

Since I am not familiar with all these wonderful dancers I rely on you, kihme, to point me to any special event I could try to get to. I have looked on deflamenco dot com but since I do not know them am not sure what will be an outstanding show. Do you have any ideas for the winter/spring? I am more interested in the dancers .

I see Inmaculada Ortega at Casa Patas and Joaquin Ruiz and Anabel Moreno at Corral de las Morerías.. any preference?

Bound to be a spectacular night at teatro Circo Price Friday Jan 17th. Tribute concert to Enrique Morente. Eva Yerbabuena is dancing, José Mercé and Miguel Poveda is singing and Tomatito, Josemi Carmona and Pepe Habichuela on guitar. http://www.teatrocircoprice.es/web//...culos/view/292

Eva Yerbabuena is spectacular. Here together with Miguel Poveda in Sevilla: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGpM6Qt0i1A

Thought about going myself, but I don't make it. A huge event.

Got to run now, but I'll come back with more.

Cantaora Estrella Morente (daughter of lagendary Enrique Morente who died much to early in Dec 2010) performs in Auditorio Nacional on Dec. 28. Two out of three times I've seen her live have been among my top ten flamenco experiences. The performance "Autoretrato" is based on her first album after her fathers death: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHX0oUhzIy0

She can be huge on stage. Here, pregnant and together with her grandmother in autumn 2011: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Np5kLHhX7BQ

Inmaculada Ortega in Casa Patas this week together with fabulous cantaor El Falo could be something. Saw him in a magical night in Antequera six years ago. Ortega and El Falo at Casa Patas last year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bX7LtCFerg

Or, I would perhaps have seen very up and coming Paloma Fantova, Guadalupe Torres and Sergio Aranda in Cardamomo, just off Plaza Santa Ana, January 20.-26.
http://cardamomo.es/

Extremely powerful Paloma Fantova (Cádiz, 1988) is taking off right now. She made her Bienal debut in 2012, and this year she has toured London, Paris, Buenos Aires etc. etc. with famous guitarist Tomatito. In London she brought the house down in fabulous Sadler's Wells theater; "the show only came alive when Paloma Fantova danced, briefly at the start, then at the end in a clinching, sole-clicking climax" (The Arts Desk): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck7hMzNH3b8

Wonderful Guadalupe Torres (Madrid, 1983). She has worked much with Rocío Molina:

http://www.guadalupetorres.com/

Sergio Aranda (1988) is arguably the best male flamenco dancer from Málaga today. Here in Casa Patas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCyMXSk2ajk

Always possible to get some tickets there and then outside the venue for some extra Euros, but understand you will have everything arranged before going all the way from Valencia.

The major concert are listed on http://www.deflamenco.com/agenda.html

More detailed programme at http://www.guiaflama.com/

Check the websites of major/favourite artists.

Today with the economical situation and few theater performances, many of the finest artists have to work the major tablaos. In Madrid you should always check places like of course Casa Patas and Cardamomo, in Barcelona places like Tablao Cordobés and Tablao de Carmen, in Sevilla venues like Casa de la Memória (Pastora Galván danced here yesterday) and La Casa del Flamenco etc.

Also great performances every now and then in the best peñas. This could often be the absolute best way to to do it; experience the finest flamenco artists in a small and local venue together with welcoming aficionados. For example:
Peña Flamenca "Duende" in Madrid: http://www.kanalduende.com/
El Dorado in Barcelona: http://www.eldorado-sfb.com/
Peña El Niño de Alfalafa in Sevilla: http://pfninodelaalfalfa.blogspot.no/
Peña Torres Macarena: http://www.torresmacarena.com/
Peña La Platería in Granada: http://www.laplateria.org.es/

Some of my favourite bailaoras/bailaores with video-clips:

Bailaoras:
- Of course Rocío Molina, here in a heavily acclaimed tribute to the greatest of all times Carmen Amaya (1913-1963) a couple of months ago in the Teatre Nacional de Catalunya in Barcelona: http://www.lavanguardia.com/escenari...dicalidad.html
Another wonderful clip of "one of the finest soloists in the world today" (New York Times): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-jNDBUZ_So

- Elegant Belén Maya in El Dorado in Barcelona (above). A Martinete that can make your blood freeze. She comes in at 4.05 mins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJVqifHGK04

- Eva Yerbabuena, perhaps the greatest the past fifteen years:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IW3mZNprq0

- Pastora Galván made her definitive breakthrough in the Bienal in Sevilla in 2010. Pure Sevilla!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2MmieIc8tE

- Fuensanta la Moneta, powerful on the verge of being scary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbO_lw2xWtU

- Living legend Manuela Carrasco: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZW88EpZIE8E

Bailaores:

- You know Israel Galván. Pastora's genious big brother and cutting edge on par with Rocío Molina: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfmCd-caWUU

- Nobody beats Joaquin Grilo when he's in the mood. Here together with brilliant Dorantes on piano: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOjtXiPl8Rk

- Marco Flores tore the house down in the prestigious festival in Jerez a couple of years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-FVsvGBsR4

- Farru, the younger brother of more famous Farruquito, here together with one of the best guitar players in the world regardless of genre, Paco de Lucía: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrxGsksJusU

And I must hold myself not to mention some twenty more...

Hmmm, must mention El Junco, not very well known by a broader public, but just brilliant. Here, in El Tablao de Carmen (Amaya) in Barcelona: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sENoCuTQYPs
And here together with David Palomar - not many sings better to flamenco dancers than Palomar - in the small Teatro Cánovas in Málaga: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1I6bSrDGqc
