Keukenhof Gardens or Bike Ride?

I've already seen the Skagit Valley tulips and am wondering if it's worth the entrance fees to see these gardens in the Netherlands. Thinking of going at the end of April and taking a bike ride in the area instead... Am I missing very much by doing so? Thanks for your advice!

Could do both - my understanding is there is a bike rental place outside the entrance to Keukenhof (although I haven't yet tried to do this). The gardens are landscaped with ponds, a windmill, some shops etc and are very beautiful.

Keukenhof in bloom is sheer magic! Don't miss it! The countryside around it is endless tulip bulb fields, flat as a pancake, and beautiful when in bloom. Road traffic can be horrendous.

Yes, you can do both. Check this http://tinyurl.com/5nwqzp. Rent a bike in Amsterdam and carry it on the train to Haarlem or Leiden. Or take a train to Leiden, Heemstede, or Haarlem and rent a bike there.

Don't forget that the end of April is Queen's Day. It's a great party in Amsterdam on April 30.

Not sure if you're just planning a trip for the end of this month, but hope you already have a hotel room if you're in Amsterdam over Queen's Day.

Rent a bike at Keukenhof - don't take one on thte train. Get the special bus to Keukenhof (see the website for details) and rent one there. Much easier.
As Travelnut says I hope you have somewhere booked already, especially if you will be here for April 30th.
