We stayed there on two occasions, both with tour groups. Very clean, acceptable in all ways, seemed much more American than British in its atmosphere. Excellent bus transportation, but a hike to the subway station.
|
than you for your reply. what do you mean by a hike? how far?
are there places to walk to nearby? ie.,shopping, restaurants, sites. or will we be needing transportation?
|
About three-four blocks to the Notting Hill subway station. Not much in the way of restaurants and/or shopping unless you cross over the viaduct to the west into Shepherds Bush. Of course, Oxford Street lies directly east of the hotel, about 1.5 miles. Suggest you get a map of the London subway system; it's available on the internet. For heaven's sake, do NOT even consider renting a car. Public transportation in London is excellent. Cabs, buses, subways -- marvelous compared to just about any city in the U.S., IMHO.

michele:
I've stayed ath this hotel. It was very satisfactory; as Al said, it is rather American than English, albeit with rather small rooms.

I think that Holland Park and Shepherd's Bush tube stations are much nearer to the hotel.
|
Thanks for correcting me; it was the Holland Park tube stop that was to the east.

We stayed here a number of years ago, rooms were very small if I remember correctly (not unexpected) and it was a long walk to the nearest underground stop. Holland Park is not too far and it is a lovely park.
