The Square Pint was pretty good as a pub. the Lime Tree restaurant was wonderful, but I'm not sure if it's still open....

Kathleen: I had a wonderful meal at the Lime Tree Restaurant in Kenmare just a few weeks ago (you MUST have reservations!). So it is still open and very good. Also had good pub grub at The Purple Heather. Don't know about the music as this early bird conked out before things got started. Mostly music is on after about 9:30 in the evening at the pubs in Ireland. Wish I could have kept my eyes open longer but we had early starts every day so we could do lots of sightseeing. Jamie G.

I must agree with Kathleen and jamie on the Limetree, it was great. For an another nice meal try Packie's Bistro. Or have a drink at Irelands top hotel, The Park Hotel (the restaurants really good but expensive).

Can't tell you how pleased I am to read here that the Limetree Restaurant is still up and running. One of our favorite travel memories happened there in the summer of 1988. We were staying at the Park Hotel (which was wonderful) with our 6 year old son and walked over to the Limetree for an early dinner. A wild rain storm developed outside while we dined (fabulous meal as I recall). <BR>When we got up to leave - fully prepared to slog back to the hotel in the rain - the owner dropped everything...trotted us through the kitchen and into his car and delivered us to the door of the hotel - said he didnt want "the little fellow" to catch a chill..as busy as he was, he was worrying about the comfort of his guests even after they left his establishment. I often think of that little gesture and what a lasting impression it left upon us. Enjoy your trip!!
