Kenmare Lodging
 

Can anyone give any advice on:
Failte Hostel
Kenmare Lodge Hostel
Rose Cottage B&B
or Hazelwood B&B?
Our group is having trouble deciding whether the B&Bs would be worth the extra cost. Hazelwood looks v. nice but it seems a little far out, where the others are in-town. Any advice/comments about any of these places?

Sorry I can't reply to any you posted. We did stay at Ashberry Lodge. It is about an 8 minutee walk from the center of town.
If Regina and Francie are still the owners, they are wonderful people. We really enjoyed our stay there. you will get a great cup of coffee.
The Limetree restaurant in town is excellent.

We stayed at Rose Cottage a couple of years ago. It's an old historic house and although it's not luxurious by any means, it was clean and comfortable. If you want an in-town stay, you can't beat the location.

We have booked at Lodge at Kenmare http://www.thelodgekenmare.com/index.html based upon other recommendations from this forum.

The Lodge in Kenmare is wonderful. Just don't expect to see views like on their homepage. The view is basically of a side street in Kenmare.

Are you inquiring about a)"The Lodge" B&B in Kenmare, or b)the "Kenmare Lodge Hostel"? Quite a difference, I would imagine?

We just returned from Ireland and spent two nights in Kenmare. We stayed at the Driftwood Lodge, which I would highly recommend. The views were lovely in the back and the B&B was just wonderful. Great food, hosts and ambiance. And, at $30Epp, it was a great value. Enjoy!

We stayed at Riverville House in Kenmare. Very nice and a short walk to town.

I was booked into Rockcrest House but they made a mistake with the dates. They did book me into another place right away--Ceol na Habhann, which I loved. (google O'Connor's guesthouse) It was one of my favorite places on the trip. The hostess, Therese, was so nice and the breakfasts were delicious! I miss those pancakes! I had a car and it was just outside town. I could have walked it (maybe 10 minutes into town?) but there's a free lot right on the edge of town that was perfect. I paid 30 euro/night for a single traveler if that helps.

Just to add in my two cents. We just returned from 16 days in Ireland and stayed at the Shelburne Lodge in Kenmare. We really enjoyed the location (walking distance to town and on the Million Dollar Mile - nice homes), but great pricing, nice accomodations, wonderful breakfast and interesting hosts. Kenmare is very touristy and this B&B gave us a more Irish feeling experience in a very tourist oriented town. I would highly recommend Shelburne Lodge!
